Key Initiatives:
- Outreach Camps: UKEH regularly organizes outreach camps within a 100-km radius of Mysore. These camps screen thousands of individuals for vision problems, often leading to diagnoses and subsequent treatment, including surgeries for conditions such as cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.
- Patient Transportation and Follow-Up: For individuals who require surgery, UKEH provides transportation to the main hospital, performs necessary surgical interventions, and ensures a safe return to their communities post-recovery. Follow-up visits and post-operative care are also offered to ensure successful outcomes.
- Public Awareness Campaigns: These campaigns, run in collaboration with local organizations, educate the public about eye care practices, early signs of vision issues, and the importance of timely treatment.
Impact:
Since its inception, the CO Programs have positively impacted the lives of thousands. By bridging the gap in access to eye care, these programs prevent avoidable blindness and empower individuals to lead productive lives.
